The guest bathroom is the perfect place to try something a little more trendy! These are two of my favorite looks, and today I'm going to show you the perfect way to combine them both... Add a basket for extra storage... It's always a good idea to have additional hand towels and toilet paper on hand! I am a huge fan of real flowers; but since the guest bath isn't used every day, it can quickly become a costly waste to have real blooms! So as an alternative, I would suggest either of these classic faux arrangements! Let me know what you think of this bold trend! Thanks for reading! Cheers-Molly I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite inspirational reads relating to women in the workplace. Being a strong female certainly presents its own challenges. I have found these books to be particularly helpful, inspiring, and motivating! So let's start with the official "#GirlBoss" book--one of my very favorites! This book is based on Sophia Amoruso's road to success with her company Nasty Gal. It covers everything from trust and success to how important it is to just be yourself and follow your gut. This is a quick, fun read that I would suggest to any women striving to be a #GIRLBOSS. "The Glitter Plan" I find it easier to read about business when it's based on a topic I'm interested in-- FASHION! Even if you aren't in the fashion industry, The Glitter Plan is very relatable on many levels. Based on the very well-known brand Juicy Couture, it tells the story of how two best friends believed in their dreams and turned $200 into $200 million with a little faith and a lot of glitter! "The Speed of Trust" On a more serious note, The Speed of Trust is an excellent read focusing on how something as simple as trust can change an entire business and how important and influential outlook and perspective can be! While this is a tougher more technical read, it was well worth the time and effort it took me to get through the whole book. "Nice Girls Still Don't Get the Corner Office" This is an awesome read for all of my strong, career oriented, female friends! This book outlines specific behaviors that us women typically demonstrate within the work place that hinder our opportunities for advancing our careers. The layout is excellent; each "mistake" is it's own chapter with a follow up section of "coaching tips". This book is an excellent learning tool and easy to go back to, to reference! The "Go Giver" I cannot recommend this book enough! Everyone should read it, business woman or not. It is told as a story of a young man named Joe and his journey of how to be a "go-getter" by being a "go-giver". It is a compelling story about how to open yourself up to the power of giving through the Five Laws of Stratospheric Success. I first read this book in college. It was an assignment from my marketing professor, and I can say that it has truly become one of my favorites! There are SO many more influential "girl-boss" & business books out there, and I hope to continue this series as I grow my library. Let me know which are your favorites and ones I should add to my list!! Thanks for reading! Cheers - Molly Happy almost Fri-Yay y'all!! Let's face it Thursday is the new Friday so we're just callin' it like we see it. In the spirit of the weekend (pun intended) let's talk cocktails! Meet my new favorite cocktail book - White Spirits! Personally, my drinks of choice, usually consist of a white spirit; but, regardless, no bar cart is complete without this book. It lists all the details: everything from "how white spirits are made" to "essential bar equipment." Of course you need cute bar tools, so you can try all of these fun new recipes! Here are all of my favorites... Now, I have to admit the real reason why I bought this book--It had not one, but TWO cocktails named after me! My maiden name was Gibson. The Gibson The Golden Gibson Try them out and let me know what ya think! Check back for more cocktail ideas coming up! And make sure to grab your very own copy right HERE! Thanks for reading! Cheers - Molly 2/16/2016 0 Comments MM Look Book: My Top Picks from the NEW 2016 Lilly Spring Collection & How to Style Them!Y'all... I WANT IT ALL! I'm SO excited to share all of our Savannah favorites with you! I fall in love with this city more and more every time! For the first time in a long time, we were able to enjoy it for all that it is without rushing around to appointments and planning wedding details. So let's get to it! (P.S - Everything that is highlighted in a different color is a link, so you can check out everything directly!) Where to stay... We chose The Brice for our special weekend get-away. It is so chic and dreamy, and the service is impeccable. They offer a free wine and cheese cocktail hour every day in the lobby, free bikes to take around the city, luxurious bath products, and free umbrellas and yoga mats in your room--I mean could it get any better? I think you should just go and decide for yourself! There are so many other fabulous places to stay in Savannah, too. Here is an extended list of some of our other favorites: The Marshall House is quant and historic. This place really gives you the true Savannah feel. The Forsyth Mansion is more removed from all of the hustle and bustle and is located right off of Forsyth park. Its rooms are grand and plush and really make you feel like a princess! The Grand Bohemian hotel has such a unique interior and is located right on River Street. What to eat... Savannah is such a "foodie" city! We basically ate our way around Savannah. Between new modern restaurants, old historic eateries, and hole in the wall places; we certainly didn't go hungry! Let's start with Day 1: (breakfast was at the airport terminal and consisted of a cold pastry, so I figured we would just pass on that) Lunch - Treylor Park You MUST try the PB&J chicken wings, the shrimp and grits tacos, and the biscuits and gravy benedict! Snack Time - Leopold's Ice-Cream This old fashioned soda shop is a classic. Their mint chocolate chip is green so you know they do things up the right way! Dinner - Olde Pink House This is an historic Savannah classic, too. The service is excellent; the food is to die for; and you even get a short history lesson while you dine. Don't forget to try the Pink Lady cocktail! (If you're wondering, no I did not intentionally match my outfit to the color of the building; but I wasn't mad about this happy coincidence!) Day 2: Breakfast - every morning we ventured down to the hotel restaurant to enjoy a power breakfast before starting our day! Lunch - Paula Deen's "The Lady & Sons" The best, classic Southern food (& sweet tea) you can find! Do the buffet, so you can get a little bit of everything. Also, make sure you make a reservation, or you could find yourself waiting in line for hours! Dinner - The Grey This is Savannah's hottest new restaurant, and I now know why! IT'S AMAZING! Besides the food being delicious, the interior is impeccable. The space was brought back to its former glory as a bus station. Even if you can't make it for dinner, grab a drink in their bar just to experience it! Day 3 Brunch - Collin's Quarter Y'all, my love for this place is unreal! It's perfect for brunch or just a coffee or a mimosa! They even have a walk-up to-go window! Some of you may not know that Savannah has no open container policy... you can take your cocktail with you! (as long as it's in a clear plastic cup not larger than 16oz) Late Lunch - Vinny Van Go-Go's It's basically the best pizza you'll ever have! Make sure you bring $$$ It's cash ONLY! Day 4 Lunch - Zunzi's This is the definition of a hole-in-the-wall place! It's a walk up only with outside seating. They serve hot sub sandwiches with an African twist. Their "special sauce" is so delish that I could drink it with a straw! Snack Time - River Street Sweets This is a candy wonderland that is famous for Pralines. If you haven't ever had one, then you haven't really lived! We simply didn't have enough time to hit all of our favorites, so I have included an extend list here: Crystal Beer Parlor - Great casual atmosphere, and their sweet & sour duck wings are amazing! Rocks on the Roof - The best place for drinks with a view! Rocks on the River - Great for lunch or brunch and convenient to River Street 700 Drayton - Modern steak house with an excellent dining experience Alligator Soul - Another one of Savannah's hot restaurants, AMAZING food with a slightly more casual feel. Soho South - The cutest, most eclectic brunch or lunch spot! Check out these don't miss museums... The Savannah History Museum This is most famously known for housing the Forest Gump Bench, but it also gives an excellent overview of the history of Savannah and the start of the Girl Scouts organization The Jepson Center This museum is most well known for housing the "Bird Girl, " but it also has excellent modern art exhibits. The image on the left is of a mechanical piece that moves and changes color according to your motions--you can see I was holding up my left arm. The picture on the right is their representation of a glass house...and we all know how that story turns out. The Telfair Museum This a beautiful old mansion that houses more traditional art collections dating mainly from the 18th to 20th centuries. Now for one of the most important things...Where to shop! Broughton Street is the main strip for shopping most of the chain stores in Savannah. However, the small boutiques off the beaten path can lead to finding the best treasures! One Fish Two Fish is one of my favorites! They have the best keepsakes, art work, bar ware, jewelry, and basically anything you would ever need or want for your home! If you could picture me in a store form, this is it! Savannah Bee Company is another fun place! You won't regret bringing home any of their treats as a souvenir. They offer free tastings before you buy and educate you on the different types of honey available. My personal favorite is the whipped honey--that and an apple = the BEST snack EVER! Things to do & sites to see... Savannah is never short on things to do; here are our favorites: The best streets to stroll are River Street, Bay Street, & Jones Street. (pictured left to right) We decided to be adventurous and take a Segway tour around the city with Adventure Tours in Motion. It was SO MUCH FUN!! They have several different types of tours, but we decided on the movie tour. It didn't disappoint. Also, make sure you hit Chippewa Square, where the famous bench scene from Forest Gump was filmed! Take a bike ride through the city and Forsyth Park. It's the perfect place for a picnic! A few of our other favorites not pictured are Old Savannah Trolley Tours Horse drawn carriage rides Hearse Ghost Tours I'm so glad that I could share this trip with y'all! I hope this has inspired you to plan a trip to the Low-Country...it truly is a magical place and a little slice of heaven on Earth! Comment and let me know what your favorites are! Thanks for reading! Cheers - Molly Valentine's Day weekend is right around the corner; and whether you have a sweet heart to spend it with or you're partying it up with you're "galentines," you have to have the perfect outfit! This is perfect for a romantic date with your fella or a night out on the town with your girls! #3 This look is perfect for a casual night in or a date to the movies! Just because you aren't doing anything fancy doesn't mean that your outfit has to be drab...don't be afraid to add a little sparkle & a pop of color with you favorite comfy sweater! Happy Almost Valentines Day Weekend! I hope these outfit suggestions have helped to inspire you! I know every single one of you will be FABULOUS! Let me know what your plans are and what you decide to wear! Thanks for reading! Cheers - Molly Valentine's Day is just about a week away; and if you're like me, you still don't have anything for your man! We girls are easy...flowers, chocolate, a nice dinner out, a new hand bag...the options are endless. But when it comes to men, they are without a doubt the hardest people to shop for. So I have listed some of my favorite ideas below that your man is sure to love... For the craft beer lover... I have to be honest... I used this idea last year, so I can say that it is a proven hit! Set up a beer flight tasting (or really any type of spirit he likes will work for this) with his own custom beer flight board. Pick up a few bottles of his favorite beers and a few new ones to try. Make it extra personal by tying a special, handwritten note to each bottle. Check out all of these options on Wayfair! Here are a few of my personal favorites... For the sweet tooth... This idea is also a proven favorite by my hubby! He LOVES Sherries Berries, hand dipped strawberries! They are beautifully packaged, reasonably priced, and delicious! While they are known for their famous berries, they do offer other goodies that are just as wonderful--everything from cake pops and boxer cookies, to hand dipped pretzels and personal candies. Here are a few of Conner's favorites... For the sharp dresser... Valentine's Day is the perfect time to treat your man to an extra special tie! Vineyard Vines has the perfect selection--from pop culture to sports teams there's something for everyone. Here are a few of my favorite picks... For the gadget lover... Any man is sure to love a new gadget; but why not get him something that's useful for you too? :) The Amazon Echo is the PERFECT thing! Not only is it fun to "play" with but it's useful too--especially if your fella is a little disorganized! This is another proven hit in our household! For the sentimental heart... Most men don't show much emotion; they leave that up to us women, but I also know that most men do appreciate sweet sentiments. Surprise your guy with a photo book from a special time you spent together. Here are a few ideas: -Fun vacation you took together -Your wedding day -Family times well spent There are so many sites from which to choose, but my favorite is May Designs. Shutterfly and Walgreens are excellent options, too. I hope these ideas help you find the perfect thing for the special man in your life! Thanks for reading! Cheers - Molly 2/3/2016 4 Comments Traveling with MM - We're heading to Savannah: What to pack for a Low-Country adventure!Savannah, Georgia is the epitome of the Low-Country! It's the perfect place to wander down cobble-stone streets and through moss-covered trees, take a romantic ride in a horse drawn carriage, have a picnic in one of the 22 historic town squares, or simply admire the beautiful architecture...I could go on and on! Savannah is a particularly special place to me...it just so happens to be where Conner and I got engaged and married! We are headed back for a pre-anniversary trip this weekend. The packing and planning have officially commenced, so I thought I would share some of my favorite travel tips and what I plan to take with me! For starters, layout everything so you can see it all in one place all at one time. This will help you pair down what you're bringing by mixing and matching pieces. Once you decide what your "must-haves" are, it's time to make sure it'll all fit in the suitcase! I am a huge proponent of the rolling method; It saves space and keeps things from shifting around. Now for the goodies... Can I tell you how excited I am to be able to wear all of my bright colors and not be looked at like a fruit cake! (It seems like everyone in NYC wears dark colors during the winter months except me!) No matter where you go, make sure you have a variety of outfits: comfy, casual, and something special for date night!Savannah is a walking city, so bringing comfortable shoes is a must! I couldn't be happier that Chuck Taylor's are officially back in style, so I dug out my old ones from high school to bring along. They are the perfect mix between flats and tennis shoes. Now, this is possibly my all time favorite travel tip... CANDLES! I actually can't take full credit for this one, my best friend Brianne got me hooked on this when we took road trips back in college. We burn candles at home so why not on the road; it helps make a hotel room much more "homey". My favorites are the Voluspa mini tins; make sure you throw a pack of matches into your checked luggage! One of the most important things about making travel comfortable and easy is having everything you need at your fingertips. Your carry-on is your new best friend! The perfect way to get a two for one is to bring a medium sized tote bag and put your smaller purse inside. Here is a list of my must-haves: - A neck pillow (I prefer one with memory foam) - Sunnies - A good magazine - A favorite book - A travel wallet (don't forget your ID - Take it from me; it's not fun!) - Portable headphones - Mini hairspray (so you can tame your "plane hair" when you arrive) - Mini Evian spray (great for rehydrating the skin) & - Chapstick Check out these links to some of my favorite items from this post! Check back next week for a full recap of our trip, and follow me on Instagram @ mollygmays for a sneak peak! Thanks for reading! Cheers - Molly Losing weight, getting fit, making a lifestyle change... These are always at the top of everyone's "New Year's Resolution" lists; and in my opinion, it's a lot easier to make these changes if you're stylin' and profilin'! See my top picks below to help get you and keep you motivated... Let's start with the gym essentials! You have to wear clothes, so they might as well be cute. My advice is to layer; I usually like to wear crop pants, a tank top, and some sort of light jacket or pull-over. Here are a few of my favorites; many are available in different colors as well: Just because you're going to the gym doesn't mean you can't have accessories...and cute ones at that! Hopefully, these fun finds will help keep you motivated long past the month of January... which is usually how long I last! Set reachable goals for yourself, write things down and cross them off as you complete them, and don't be afraid to ask a friend to be your accountability buddy! Let me know what works for you! Thanks for reading! Cheers - Molly |
